The pre-requisite for the graduation program in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering is the successful passing of 10+2 exams in Science streams from a recognized board. In addition, they must have studied Mathematics as a subject in their qualifying course.

With 50% marks in physics and maths in Class 12, you can get into an AME course in a DGCA-approved institute but for obtaining an AME license aspirant must clear the DGCA exams.
The DGCA mandated exam has four papers which thoroughly test the knowledge of aviation rules and regulations, engineering and maintenance practices and hence a comprehensive knowledge is necessary.
After qualifying, one must join an airline for gaining experience by working on an aircraft. Then, the scores in the final exam determine your AME license.
